Unleash the Potential of Others

Here’s some things to THINK about, a story to BE inspired by and something you can DO right now so you can start the week right on a Sunday night!

Things from me (and someone else) to THINK about

“One of two things happen when you walk into every room: it either gets better or worse. Leaders make things better!”

“Average leaders raise the bar on themselves; good leaders raise the bar for others; great leaders inspire others to raise their own bar.” – Orrin Woodward

A story to BE inspired by

A Chinese bamboo tree has a unique growth pattern that can teach us valuable lessons about leadership and developing the potential of others. When a bamboo seed is planted, it takes up to five years of watering and nurturing before it breaks through the ground. However, once it does, it can grow up to 90 feet in just six weeks.

During the first five years, while the bamboo seed is hidden underground, it is developing a strong root system that will support its rapid growth above the surface. This story illustrates the importance of patience, persistence, and nurturing when it comes to helping others reach their potential.

As leaders, we must understand that developing the potential in others is not always an immediate process. It takes time, dedication, and consistent effort to cultivate growth. By providing a supportive environment, encouragement, and resources, we can help others build a strong foundation that will enable them to achieve remarkable results when the time is right.

Something to DO right now

Reflect on someone in your life who may be in the early stages of their personal or professional growth. This could be a colleague, friend, or family member who could benefit from your guidance and support.

What is one thing you can do this week to nurture their growth, help them build a strong foundation, and ultimately, develop their potential? Commit to taking that action, and witness the incredible impact of your leadership on the lives of others.
